My name is Simon Glanvill and I have been collecting and dealing in antiques and collectables for over 25 years. Post Script is a family run business started by myself and my father, Peter, (an antiques expert of many years standing) in 1990.
The whole team has a genuine passion for antique and vintage items and we try to stay abreast of emerging and changing markets so that we can offer the best possible prices for your treasure.
We have a broad knowledge of the market and, between us, there is little that we have not come across. My personal interests include early English silver, ivory and other antique Chinese artifacts, vintage toys and games, military items, film memorabilia, taxidermy, and anything weird and/or wonderful! I love unique, grotesque or unusual items and am particularly keen on items with a good history or back story – photograps, ephemera, war diaries etc.
I want to write this blog to give you an idea of some of the things we like to buy and give some insight into our business and, where possible, impart a little knowledge about the items themselves.
Before I start, you need to meet Hamish who is 9 (or 61 depending on which system you use); he is our Head of Security and an important member of the team. He doesn’t have much in the way of knowledge nor, due to a lack of opposing thumbs, is he much good at moving furniture but his spirit-lifting and morale boosting properties are second to none.
Here are a few photos of him at work and play:
Here he is racing to a call where, it was believed, there was a group of Boer War medals.
And this was the time that he grew so large that he made this enormous iron railway bridge look like a simple 5″ gauge garden model railway accessory.
Haircut, sir?
Halloween is always a favourite with Hamish as you can see from his happy face. Here he is modelling his batdog costume.
And another of his favourite’s, the Spider from Mars…
